Tax Agency meets its goals in August and September

The Tax Agency reported collections reached RD$316.27 billion, equivalent to 102.21% of the year’s accumulated estimate. For September, tax revenues were more than what was estimated. The total is RD$35.85 billion compared to RD$34.29 billion for a 104% compliance.

For August 2020, tax revenues collected by the DGII were RD$37.42 billion, compared to RD$32.83 billion, for a 114% compliance.

“In other words, in only 32 working days, the new DGII administration has managed to exceed the estimates by RD$6,147.1 million or 109.2% of compliance with the goal,” explained the DGII in a press release.

The collecting entity explained that the estimates from August to December were re-estimated in the amendment of the National Budget Law approved in September (Law 222-20).

The DGII says that an additional RD$108.77 billion needs to be collected to comply with the estimated goal for the rest of the year.

The DGII contemplates a 13% reduction in total collections for the year compared to 2019 given the effects of the Covid-19 virus on the economy.
