Second JCE plenary member says she was not in the know of the IT difficulties at the JCE

Rosario Altagracia Graciano became the second of the five judges of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) to wash her hands of the electronic glitch that caused the collapse of the 16 February municipal election this year. The election had to be held on 15 March at an additional cost of more than RD$3 billion to the Dominican people

Graciano made the statements when answering questions during her interview to continue as one of the five members or alternates at the JCE. A senate committee is assessing the applicants.

Earlier, Carmen Imbert Brugal had also stated she was caught by surprise when the election had to be suspended. Imbert Brugal said the judges had specific duties.

The Senate is reviewing applications made by more than 300 candidates, including the two plenary members and several past JCE members and employees for presenting short lists to the vote of the senators this year.
