Public Health Minister Plutarco Arias and his wife are hospitalized at the Unión Médica del Norte in Santiago. Dr. Arias is the founding partner of the leading Santiago private clinic. Early on, the Unión Médica championed the treating of Covid-19 virus in the Cibao provinces.
Dr. Veronica Lockward, medical director for the clinic, said Dr. Arias and his wife are receiving treatment following established protocols. Unión Medica has cared for more than 1,700 patients with Covid-19 from March to present.
As reported in Acento, the neumologist had attended an event for breast cancer awareness month at the Santiago free zone park. The minister announced he had tested positive on Wednesday.
