New ambassador of Haiti is a graduate of Intec in Santo Domingo

Smith Augustin, Haiti’s new ambassador to the country, is a specialist in Haitian-Dominican relations, a jurist, philosopher and sociologist. He is a specialist in Dominican-Haitian relations.

Augustin studied philosophy at the Centro Bonó, the Jesuit organization that has assisted impoverished Haitian immigrants. He studied social sciences at the Institute of Technology of Santo Domingo (Intec).

The ambassador also studied at the Foundation Rene Cassin – International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France. He has a Masters in International Law from the University of Nantes in France.

He has worked for several years in Ouanaminthe, a city on the Haitian border with the Dominican province of Dajabón.

He also studied International Law at the University of Nantes in France, and Sociology at Laval University in Canada where he was a professor.
