Abinader in Los Alcarrizos: Home for victims of crime, skylift, market, cemetery and access road

President Luis Abinader visited Los Alcarrizos, a densely populated northern satellite district of the province of Santo Domingo.

He brought good news for the family that suffered the tragedy of the death of five-year old girl Yulensky Batista Cuevas who was outside her home when killed by a bullet shot fired by an assailant on Wednesday, 28 October 2020. Her father was also injured. The President announced the family would not have to wait for the four months for the state to provide the dwelling. He said he and Presidency Minister Lisandro Macarrulla would donate the home.

He announced efforts are underway in his government to upgrade the Police with more funding and technology. He called for the fugitive criminals, in this case, to turn themselves in.

Abinader was in Los Alcarrizos for two hours on Sunday afternoon. He toured the Los Alcarrizos Viejo municipal market, and promised the government would invest RD$26 million to make it better. He said the market was a priority in his government.

He said despite the budgetary limitations and the government to health, education and public safety, city mayors will also get backing so they can do their jobs efficiently.

President Abinader also visited the Vinicio Calventi Public Hospital and announced RD$100 million to complete its renovation.

He confirmed the government is going ahead with the second line of the Santo Domingo Cable Car that will connect Los Alcarrizos. The government has also contemplated the expansion of the Santo Domingo Metro to Los Alcarrizos. He said this would put an end to the traffic chaos in Los Alcarrizos.

He also promised that efforts will be accelerated to resolve the legal issues regarding the town cemetery.

President Abinader also announced the government is taking actions to complete the Nuevo Camino Expressway, an investment of RD$2 billion. The road was planned in 1996 but abandoned after thousands invaded where the road would have been.
