Business woman Ligia Bonetti, president of Sociedad Industrial Dominicana, is challenging Pedro Brache for the National Business Council (Conep) presidency. Bonetti is leading the multi-sectorial government committee for the country brand project.
Brache is the president of Grupo Rica, the largest juice and dairy producer in the country. It is also the only company to sell company shares on the Dominican stock market. Brache is known as a close supporter of former President Danilo Medina.
Acento reports on the election explaining in previous years, a consensus decided the next president, with the incumbent being promoted from the Conep board of directors.
The election is scheduled for 11 November 2020.
