Abinader holds cabinet meeting in San Cristóbal to commemorate Constitution Day

President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña presided over the government cabinet session on Friday, 6 November. They met this time in San Cristóbal to commemorate the 176th anniversary of signing the first Dominican Constitution on 6 November 1844.

The government council approved several infrastructure works proposed in the San Cristóbal Development Plan. Among these is the construction of headquarters and parking for the municipality, the municipal cemetery, a farmer’s market and multi-purpose sports facility.

Likewise, the Ministry of Public Works announced the San Cristóbal cloverleaf construction, a major road project that will allow access to the district from the south of the country. The Ministry will be building several pedestrian bridges. Also approved is a vocational training center through the Ministry of Education.

The President ordered the fitting of the Casa de La Caoba, the vacation home of former dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, and
the home of former politician José Francisco Peña Gómez into commemorative museums.

Likewise, President Abinader said that efforts are underway to facilitate more industries in the La Armería and Villa Altagracia government-owned free zone manufacturing sites. “A society develops by improving its infrastructure, but also by creating more jobs,” said Abinader.

Abinader also announced small infrastructure works for Cambita, El Carril, Los Cacaos, Yaguate, Palenque and in Villa Altagracia and Nigua.

Attending the session were the ministers of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte; Economy, Miguel Ceara; Environment, Orlando Jorge Mera; Women, Mayra Jiménez; Sports, Francisco Camacho; Agriculture, Limber Cruz; Public Works, Deligne Ascención; Interior and Police, Jesús (Chú) Vásquez; Administrative, José Ignacio Paliza and Defense Lieutenant General, Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa; Hacienda, José Manuel Vicente; Public Health, Plutarco Arias; Culture, Carmen Heredia; Miguel Decamps, from Labor; Industry, Commerce, Víctor (Ito) Bisonó; Higher Education, Franklin García Fermín; Public Administration, Darío Castillo; Antoliano Peralta, legal consultant to the Executive Branch; the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco; the president of the Senate, Eduardo Estrella and the director of Ethics and Government Integrity, Milagros Ortiz Bosch.
