
On Friday, 6 November 2020, the Haiti-Dominican Republic market reopened. The market had been closed since March 2020 due to the Covid-19 virus. From 8am, the authorities allowed Haitians to enter in groups of 50. This continued throughout the day. The market will now be open on Mondays and Fridays from 8am to 5pm
The media reports close to normal flow of people and no disruptions. The market opened under a strict health protocol carried out by the Ministry of Public Health authorities and the Specialized Corps for Border Security (Cesfront) and other agencies.
Everyone at the market is required to use a face mask and keep physical distancing. 35 health inspectors are assigned to supervise the compliance with the required health protocols.
