
President Luis Abinader sent a tweet to President-elect Joe Biden in the United States on 7 November 2020 after the election was called in the United States. “Congratulations to US president-elect @JoeBiden and to vice-president-elect @KalamaHarris, the first woman to hold that office in the US. We share the same democratic values as those held by the US. We look forward to strengthening our political, economic and cultural partnership,” wrote President Abinader in his note to Biden.
The tweet turned out to be controversial when TV news commentator Roberto Cavada criticized the tweet was sent in English.
