
President Luis Abinader appointed Luz del Alba Jiménez Ramírez as Minister of Youth. For Jiménez Ramírez, it is a promotion. She was the deputy minister of Youth.
Jimenez replaces Kinsberly (Kimberly) Taveras, who resigned on Monday, 7 December. Taveras had been on leave of absence after state prosecutors began an investigation into the source of the assets she declared for her worth statement.
Abinader administration communications director, Milagros Germán said the new minister has been an outstanding municipal leader, demonstrating human and political sensibility.
Listin Diario reports that the new minister was born in Santo Domingo. She is the daughter of Jose Ramón Jiménez, who is a city councilor for Santo Domingo East. She has studied finance and marketing and has worked with the family business. She played a key role in the Modern Revolutionary Party political campaign that resulted in the election of Manuel Jiménez as mayor for the municipality of Santo Domingo East.
