
Police interrupted a wedding taking place at the Alta Vista Restaurant in La Vega. As reported in Diario Libre, around 60 persons were arrested for violating curfew, and health protocols. The bride and groom were arrested.
As reported, around 150 persons were at the wedding. The large number of people violated the health protocol for the restaurant. Diario Libre reported the daughter of businessman Joselito Hurtado (Mayeya) was getting married. Mayeya had just recently been arrested for curfew violation. He is the owner of a car dealership.
Police Brigade General Eduardo Alberto Then, director of the Central Cibao Command, led the operation.
La Vega is the province with the third largest number of recorded cases of Covid-19 in the Dominican Republic with 6,133 cases as of 12 December 2020 that is 4% of the national total of those testing positive for first time PCR tests.
