
The Senate approved two loan contracts for US$500 million for ground transport. One loan is for US$250 million with the InterAmerican Development Bank and another for US$250 million with the French Development Agency (AFD).
The president of the Senate, Eduardo Estrella told the press: “I don’t like taking loans, either. I trust that we will be able to recover all the stolen money to avoid taking on more debt.” He was referring to efforts by the new authorities at the Justice Department to prosecute companies and past officials charged with corruption in the past Medina administration.
