DR reciprocates and cancels Venezuelan flights

The Civil Aviation Board (JAC) ordered the suspension of regular and charter flights to Venezuela after that country suspended flights to the Dominican Republic. Resolution 146-2020 dated 15 December 2020 provides exceptions for emergencies, couriers, humanitarian and repatriation and United Nations flights, technical stops and air ambulance flights.

The JAC says the measure is in effect until Venezuela lifts its ban on flights to the Dominican Republic. On 13 December, Venezuela announced it was closing its airports to all international flights, with those from the Dominican Republic included. Venezuelan skies are only open to flights from Turkey, Mexico and Bolivia. Venezuela says the measure is taken to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The measure will remain in force until the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela decides to lift the country’s restriction.
