After leading the tournament for weeks, the Toros del Este of La Romana lost 4-2 to the Gigantes del Cibao at their Francisco Micheli Ballpark in La Romana. The loss resulted in a triple tie between the Toros del Este, Aguilas Cibaeñas and Gigantes del Cibao. The Gigantes had more runs and thus were allotted the first place of the regular round.
The Tigres del Licey won their last game but were eliminated. The Estrellas Orientales and the Leones del Escogido now need to play a short series (3-2) to define the fourth team slot for the semifinals. The mini-series starts on Sunday, 27 December at the San Pedro de Macoris Tetelo Vargas Ball Park. The semifinals of the Professional Baseball Championship start on 2 January.
