Every year hundreds of thousands of people leave getting their vehicle’s permit to circulate for the last minute. Queuing up in line and paying the fines makes no sense when the government gives many weeks to pay the circulation tax or “marbete.”
Get this done this very week and avoid the crowds. There are two ways. The first way is to take a photocopy of the vehicle registration (matricula) and the fees (RD$3,000 for cars 2016 and up or RD$1,500 for vehicles 2015 and below) to any Savings and Loan bank, any commercial bank branch, or any office of the Tax Agency (DGII).
The second way is to go online and follow the six step process online at https://www.dgii.gob.do. At that URL look for “marbetes”. Next, register with the cedula of the person whose name is on the vehicle registration and the license plate number….the rest is super easy and they can deliver the marbete to your house. You will need a photocopy of your cedula to receive the sticker.
There are two weeks left for you to do it this way. After that, you have to fight the hundreds of thousands of people who waited until the last minute.
