
Effective 1 January 2021, police are now getting a 10 to 40% wage increase. Those in the lowest ranks are getting the highest wage increases.
Police who earned RD$10,150.42 will now make RD$14,210.59; those earning RD$11,600.38 will receive RD$16,240.53. Pay of sergeants is up from RD$13,050.73 to RD$18,271.02; and sergeant majors that were paid RD$14,300.98 will now make RD$19,306.32. Police cadets are getting increases with their wages going from RD$12,500.56 to RD$16,250.73.
In addition to the wage increases, police agents are also benefitting from improvements in their health and life insurance plans, and free fares on Omsa buses, the Santo Domingo metro and cable car.
In another action to stretch police earnings, the government ordered weekly essential food program sales at low prices through the National Institute of Price Stabilization (INESPRE).
