The Ministry of Tourism says that public beaches are open during the hours established for free transit, that is from 5am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and from 5am to 12 noon on Saturdays and Sunday. Those at beaches need to comply with safety protocols. Decree 740-20 ordered the shutdown of recreational parks nationwide from 1 to 10 January 2021. The restrictions seek to contain the rise in Covid-19 cases in the Dominican Republic.
The restriction hours do not affect those staying in resort areas where the beaches are under other schedules and health protocols. Hotels and resorts have their own protocols. Activities at hotels are limited to staying guests only.
