The Voice, the popular international singing competition, is coming to Dominican audiences this year. It is a ProCapital and Ram Group Global production. Luz García is the reality show’s host. A 2,600 square meter studio is under construction for the event. The starting date is yet to be announced.
To find the contestants, Voice staff has held castings in Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, Santiago and Bani looking for emerging singing talents. The Voice Dominicana producer Angie Rodríguez explains that of 3,000 people who performed, 110 participants were chosen for the Blind Auditions stage of the competition. Juan Magan, Milly Quezada, Yiyo Sarante and Nacho were named the coaches responsible for kickstarting the show in the Dominican Republic.
Commenting on the preliminary stage, Rodríguez observed: “The show is great, nothing to envy the talents in other countries…. I believe in the DR… While my roots are Puerto Rican, I am tied to this land and fascinated by the talent that I have had the opportunity to experience. The Voice Dominicana will surprise you…”
The Voice competition began 10 years ago in Holland and since then has been franchised throughout the world. In the US, it airs on NBC. The Voice reality show is held in five stages. After the Blind Auditions, the contenders move on to the Battle Rounds, the Knockouts, the Playoffs and the Live Performance Shows.
