Three government agencies have established a Trust for Pedernales, the small town on the most southwestern corner of the Dominican Republic. Pedernales is best known for Bahía de las Aguilas, the undeveloped stretch of many kilometers now only reached by sea.

The Pro-Pedernales Trust will be in charge of the necessary studies for the construction of the needed infrastructure for the tourism development in the province.

The Pro-Pedernales Trust was signed by Sigmund Freund, executive director of Public-Private Partnerships Agency (Dgapp); Samuel Pereyra, general manager of Banreservas and president of the Board of Fiduciaria Reservas; and Andrés Vander Horst, general manager of Fiduciaria Reservas.

The Trust will facilitate the construction of an international airport and more than 10,000 hotel rooms in the area.
