Over the past two weeks there have been 4,500 lucky persons who have been to the Samana Peninsula and visited the humpback whales, El Caribe reports. The whales come here every year, some 1,500 to 2,000 of them. They come to mate and give birth.
Whale-watching boats have to follow a long list of protocols to carry tourists, both local and international, to see the whales. No swimming or diving, no loud noises, no jet skis. These huge creatures can be seen playing with their newborn babies (one ton babies!), and the sights are to be remembered forever.
