The National Health Service (SNS) announced the fitting of a small public clinic in Boca Chica to exclusively service Covid-19 patients. Boca Chica is a municipality located next to Las Americas International Airport, Caucedo Port and Boca Chica beach and community that has a population of around 360,000. Dr. Mario Lama, director of the SNS said the government spent RD$5 million in the renovation of the clinic to respond to Covid-19 cases requiring hospitalization in Boca Chica.
The Abinader administration inaugurated a new public hospital for the community in December 2020.
