Two of the main power plants are out for repairs or maintenance. These are the unit 2 at Punta Catalina coal-fired thermoelectric and the Itabo I managed by AES Dominicana.
Engineer Serafín Canario said that the Odebrecht-Technmont-Estrella consortium is working 24/7 to repair the boiler breakdown by 23 February. He said this is the third breakdown. He said the consortium is taking advantage of the situation to make other corrections to avoid future stoppages. The work is still under the warranty that expires on 24 April 2021. Punta Catalina Unit 2 has capacity to generate 376MW.
AES Dominicana reports maintenance works on the coal-fired Itabo I power plant. The works will delay through April because of the need to import parts from abroad. Itabo I has capacity to produce 128MW.
