Prosecution accuses Argenis Contreras of murder

State prosecutors seek a year in preventive custody and the declaring of the lawyer and UASD professor Yuniol Ramirez murder and corruption case as complex. Argenis Contreras is accused of murder, bribes and association with criminals. The case is now moving after lead suspect in the murder, Argenis Contreras, was deported from the United States and arrived on Tuesday, 3 February for questioning by the new authorities at the Attorney General Office.

The prosecutors accuse Contreras of shooting the UASD professor and lawyer on 11 October 2017. Ramirez was investigating corruption at the Metropolitan Bus Office (OMSA) where Contreras was employed.

The case will be heard on 5 February 2021 by Judge Kenya Romero of the Fourth Court of the National District. He could receive a maximum of 30 years in jail.
