
Acento did a follow up to find out what is of the Country Brand (Marca Pais) contest called to find a new logo for the country. Through Pro Dominicana, the Abinader government announced it was going ahead with the country brand it had inherited from the past administration. The Medina government spent millions to brand the country, but the slogan (The Republic of the World) and the logo met with widespread rejection. The logo was said to have been plagiarized from a Russian logo and the slogan did not catch on with the general public. Country Brand coordinators then called a second contest with young creatives with little professional experience. The results of the contest would have been announced on 20 January 2021. Acento followed up at the Ministry of Tourism and could not get an answer on what happened and what’s the next step so that the DR gets a country brand
