
Diario Libre publishes today a report on 4,500 political appointees in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The political appointees cost taxpayers RD$611 million a year. Since the change of government, several reports have appeared on parallel payrolls used for political favors. The report points out that several on the payroll were close relatives of former Minister of Industry and Commerce and high-ranking PLD party leader, Temístocles Montás.
