President Luis Abinader issued Decree 66-21 that appoints the new members of the National Council of Culture. Dominican poet, essayist and critic, Basilio Belliard, is named executive director for the council. Members are:
Maridalia Hernández, representative of popular artists; Elsa Núñez, representative of plastic artists; Juan Daniel Balcácer, representative of the intellectual sector. José del Castillo Pichardo, representing cultural researchers.
Also Darío Solano, representative of the cultural organizations; Iván José Silva Fernández, representative of the provincial development councils; Manuel Jiménez, representative of the municipal governments.
Other members are Manuel García Arévalo, representative of the private business sector and María Amalia León, representative of the private cultural foundations. Others named to the council as representatives of the cultural sector are Abil Peralta Agüero, Julia Castillo Mejía, Myrna Guerrero, Eduardo García Michel and Mu Kien Adriana Sang Ben, representative of the cultural sector.
