
The Dominican men’s basketball team competes in Group C in the upcoming window of the FIBA AmeriCup2022 Qualifiers in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Teams from the Americas region vying to compete in the AmeriCup 2022 are broken into four groups. These are: Group A (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela), Group B (Brazil, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay), Group C (Canada, Cuba, Dominican Republic, US Virgin Islands), and Group D (Bahamas, Mexico, Puerto Rico and USA). The USA and Brazil have already qualified for the AmeriCup.
FIBA reports that the top three teams from each group will qualify for the FIBA AmeriCup 2022.
The DR, US Virgin Islands, Canada and Cuba games will be held from 18 to 23 February 2021 at the Roberto Clemente Colliseum in the Puerto Rican capital City. A protected environment (bubbles) has been arranged to ensure the health and safety of all participants.
The Dominican team leads the Group C with 3 wins and one loss. Canada did not participate in the previous qualifier for reasons of the safety of its players.
