Dr. Rita Rojas: Young children should go back to in person classes

The Dominican Society of Infectious Diseases president, Dr. Rita Rojas favors a return to in-person classes for children under 12 years of age. She says this is her personal opinion, not that of the Society.

Interviewed on the D’Agenda TV program, the head of infectious diseases at the Hospital Plaza de la Salud, said studies show that the disease’s spread is very low among this age group. She mentioned a recent study by the US CDC on cases in Wisconsin. She said the authorities at the Ministry of Education should refer to this study.

Education Minister Roberto Furcal has said in person learning would resume when the Ministry of Public Health authorizes this. He says the government is advancing on the protocols to be put in place.
