Attorney General Miriam Germán was in San Pedro de Macorís where she announced the cancellation of prosecutor Roberto Encarnación, who was under investigation for ordering the release of two men accused of gender violence when he was on medical leave of absence. Ramona Nova was named to replace Encarnación.
It was reported the chief prosecutor also traveled to San Pedro de Macoris to look into allegations of irregular actions by the San Pedro prosecutor, Idalia Jimenez, regarding the general public, employees, journalists and lawyers in that district.
The Attorney General Office announces it is investigating the irregularities reported in Diario Libre regarding the contract recently awarded to a company owned by baseball player Robinson Canó to collect garbage in San Pedro de Macorís.
