The two Dominican film crew kidnapped on 20 February 2021 when traveling with a film convoy in Haiti were released on Friday, 26 February, after six days in captivity. The Haitian Judicial Police (DCPJ) took time to interrogate Michael Enrique and Antonio Gerer Campusano Feliz in the presence of Dominican consul and Dominican military attache Salomon Sanchez. The brothers were later taken to the Dominican Embassy in Port-au-Prince. The Haitian government authorized their departure from Haiti.
Initial reports were that the young men had barely slept and had not bathed in days. The Campusano brothers worked for Muska Group. As reported, the Haitian interpreter Junio Albert Augusma, who had accompanied the Dominicans, was also released.
President Luis Abinader confirmed the release of the Campusano Feliz brothers. He said President Jovenel Moise told him the brothers were under Haitian Police custody. Abinader said he gave instructions to take the young men to the Dominican Embassy in Port-au-Prince.
El Dia reported that the brothers did not have working visas and therefore were illegally in Haiti at the time of the kidnapping.
There is no information on whether a ransom was paid for the Dominicans. The brothers are said to be in good health. There is no date on when they will return to the Dominican Republic.
