
Venezuelan Yurgen Ramírez is the winner of the 42nd version of the Vuelta Ciclistica Independencia. Ramírez became the most likely winner from stage 4 when his qualities as a mountain racer turned him into the race’s undisputed leader. The 23-year old athlete competed for the Futuro team. This was his first time competing in the Dominican classic. He completed the stage race in 23 hours, 5:16 minutes ahead of his teammate, Franklin Chacón.
“For me, it represents a great pride to be able to come to the Dominican Republic for the first time and leave with the champion’s trophy in my hands. This is a triumph that will always be present in my life,” said an excited Ramirez.
Others making the top 5 were: Geovanny García, from EDA Cycling Team at 6:07 minutes; Juan Borstelmann, from Voler Factory Team at 7:19 minutes; Diego Milán, from Inteja at 7:31 minutes.
