
It took seven months, but the Abinader administration finally will soon legalize lawyer Wellington Arnaud’s appointment to head the National Drinking Water Institute (Inapa). The Inapa law specifies that an engineer be named its director. The bill to make the change has already passed in the Senate.
The naming of Arnaud was widely criticized in the media. At the time, President Abinader responded that Arnaud would be acting director until the amendment to Inapa Law 59-94 passed in Congress. The ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) is the majority party in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
