
Julio Alberto Martínez Ruiz, who is the son of well-known lobbyist (“bocina”) Julio Martinez Pozo is on the payroll of the Ministry of Foreign Relations (Mirex) making US$7,000 in February 2021, Somos Pueblo news portal reports. The wage in pesos is around RD$408,800 a month.
Martínez Ruiz is paid for services as counselor minister at the Dominican Embassy in Germany. His remuneration breaks down as US$2,000, plus US$2,500 per diem and US$2,500 for lodging, as reported in Somos Pueblo
Somos Pueblo observes that the person should be residing in Germany. Martinez is known as host of the radio talk show, “El Zol de los Sabados.”
The newspaper says it has questioned this appointment on six occasions without a response from the Ministry of Foreign Relations.
The Ministry of Foreign Relations has announced on several occasions the purging of the Ministry payroll of political appointees and persons whose work does not contribute to the role of the Ministry of promoting foreign relations and increased trade and business.
