
The report indicates that 87% of consumers are looking forward to traveling again, 76% are creating their destination wish list for future travel even though they might not be able to travel yet. The report also indicates that 56% of respondents said that they miss traveling so much that they are willing to book a trip now even if they might have to cancel it in the future.
Tourism Minister David Collado says bookings reveal that tourist air arrivals will be more than 220,000, a 30% increase over travel that was already showing signs of recovery in February 2021. He said flight capacity is up 22% compared to February, and planes arrive with a 52% occupancy.
The announcements come when active Covid-19 cases and vaccination are moving at a steady pace in the Dominican Republic. Vaccination is accelerating in the United States, the Dominican Republic’s primary travel source market.
