
Given that most people in the Dominican Republic have decided not to travel abroad, discovering the country’s ecotouristic destinations is the best option. Diario Libre asked two of the leading Dominican adventure promoters in the country to recommend river adventures. Carlos Torres (@carlostorresrd) and Jose Castillo (@aquamanrd) shared their favorites for trekking in Puerto Plata province, on the north coast. All the sites are doable by moderately fit people.
Their answers are in a feature in the newspaper today. They recommend Los 27 Charcos de Damajagua, the most famous waterfall and hiking site. But the others that are accessible for all the family are Río Sonador in Yásica; Charco Los Militares; La Rejoya, Juan de Nina and Río Martinico in the municipality of Sosúa.
