
Vice President Raquel Peña announced on 11 March 2021 that vaccinations are available only for those who have already made their appointments via the VacunateRD online platform. The head of the Health Cabinet says the government has sufficient vaccines to ensure the second vaccine for the more than 600,000 vaccinated people. The first to be vaccinated are persons 70+, health care providers, pre-school and elementary school teachers of the public system and persons 60+ with comorbidities already vaccinated.
Persons who received the Chinese Sinovac/Coronavac vaccine need to wait 28 days to receive the second dose. Those that received the India-Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine need to wait for 8 to 12 weeks before receiving the second dose.
The Vice President says the government awaits new shipments of vaccines to open the vaccinations again to other groups.
