
Hector Valdez Albizu, the Central Bank governor, reported that Dominican expats have sent US$1.5 billion to their families in the first two months of the year, according to preliminary reports. In fact, January saw a 35% jump over 2020 and February a 28% increase year-to-year. In addition, the recent US$1.9 trillion stimulus package signed by the US President Joe Biden is expected to trickle down to the Dominican Republic.
