Josefa Castillo: Increased spending is due to added services at the Superintendence of Insurance

In response to the widespread criticism generated by her participation during a Grupo Corripio media lunch, Superintendent of Insurance Josefa Castillo defended increasing spending at the Superintendence of Insurance. She said the payroll was increased from RD$22 million to RD$26 million because new services have been added. She mentioned inspectors were hired, the Insurance Training School was created as well as a new Customer Service Center. She argued she has increased the efficiency of the institution and has had monthly savings of more than RD$4 million in fuel and supply purchases.

Nuria Piera, on her Saturday evening investigative journalism program, did a follow up to the statements made by Castillo. Piera explained much of what Castillo had said in the media lunch was false.
