Mexico-Dominican Republic Virtual Trade Meetings

Public and private sector are joining efforts to increase exports to Mexico and Mexican investments in the Dominican Republic with a First Round of Virtual Business. With the backing of ProDominicana, the local export and investment agency, and the Dominican Mexican Chamber of Commerce the business rounds are taking place to prepare the local strategy. The Association of Importers and Exporters of the Mexican Republic (ANIERM) and Trade Point Agency are the Mexican counterparts for the event.

Dominican ambassador to Mexico, Maria Isabel Castillo said the meetings are consistent with the National Plan for the Promotion of Exports.

Biviana Riveiro, executive director of Pro Dominicana, said the actions seek to kick start exports to Mexico in the next four years.

Angelica Noboa Pagan, executive director of CABIMEX, said that the Chamber seeks to serve as an effective platform for business development and strategic trade linkages between the two countries.

Participating are individuals and companies interested in the Mexican market. These range from MSMEs to leading national brands. Some 26 exporting companies have signed on for around 100 scheduled appointments. The focus is on agribusiness, plastics, automotive manufacturing, textiles, jewelry, medical devices and electronic components.

Local exporters of finished products with higher added value, such as cigars, cane rum, fruit juices, jewelry, scented candles, apparel, are also participating.
