
Thousands of scholarships are available for study in Dominican universities. The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT) García Fermin announced on Wednesday, 17 March 2021, that 40 universities nationwide offer more than 6,000 scholarships. The scholarships are for technical, undergraduate and graduate studies.
The application period is open from 22 March to 5 April online. To apply, students need to present grade average of 80 points and low-income status.
García Fermín said the government program is costing RD$886 million. There are scholarships at all universities. He said in previous years, at most 4,000 scholarships had been granted.
Furthermore, he said that 5,000 students at the state UASD university can apply for RD$5,000 per month allowances to cover their studies expenses.
