
The Ministry of Culture presented the National Visual Arts Award 2020 to Vicente Pimentel and Antonio Guadalupe, in Painting; Polibio Díaz, in Photography, and José Ramón Rotellini, in Sculpture. The winners each received a cash award of RD$1 million. The awards are the highest recognitions granted by the Dominican government to the contributions of an artist of the national visual arts. They recognize the artistic validity, permanent contribution, international trajectory and outstanding production of each of the artists.
The announcement was made at a ceremony held at the recently reopened Ramón Oviedo Gallery, headed by the Minister of Culture, Professor Carmen Heredia. The gallery is located at the Ministry of Culture headquarters on the Malecon.
The paintings of Guadalupe, photos of Díaz and sculptures of Pimentel are on exhibition at the Ramon Oviedo Gallery.
