Electric scooters banned in Colonial City until regulated

The popularity of electric scooters created problems in the Colonial City as these swerved around sidewalks and streets, affecting pedestrians. Now, Santo Domingo’s city government says these are banned until regulation is drafted on their use, responsibilities, and consequences.

As explained in a press release, the measure is taken by common agreement with the companies and individuals who rent the scooters to visitors.

In a joint meeting, the suspension was determined until the spaces where their safe use will be allowed are defined.

“It is our commitment to promote order, ensure safety and peaceful coexistence of our citizens and visitors to any point of our capital city,” says the city government note.
