
President Luis Abinader and Tourism Minister David Collado were in Miches, in the eastern province of El Seibo, for the presentation of the Pro Miches development project on Wednesday, 24 March 2021. The project contemplates the construction of 3,128 hotel rooms and 1,423 residential vacation units. The project as initially contemplated, would create 9,000 jobs.
Yamil Isaías, president of Pro Miches, valued the government’s support to promote the comprehensive plans that seek to transform people’s lives. “Promiches will be the strong advocate of this new way of tourism. Today we celebrate a new Miches,” he said. He pointed out that the jobs created in the new tourism destination will replace the town’s image as point of departure from where illegal boats would board undocumented travelers to Puerto Rico.
Also speaking at the event was Shaney Peña, technical deputy minister at the Ministry of Tourism, who explained the Ministry of Tourism’s Comprehensive Plan for the Development of Miches.
Meanwhile, Frank Elías Rainieri invited all the businessmen to invest in the Playa Esmeralda development. He emphasized that with this project, Dominican capitals are present in Miches, betting on the country’s tourism growth.

Miches has a population of around 20,000 persons.
