Senate sends choices for Chamber of Accounts plenary and the Ombudsman to special committees

Senate president Eduardo Estrella created two working committees to choose the Chamber of Accounts’ plenary and the Ombudsman and their alternates. The Chamber of the Accounts is the government body in charge of auditing government entities.

The committee that will work on the shortlists for members of the Chamber of Accounts is composed of Senator Antonio Taveras, who will chair it; Franklin Peña, José del Castillo Saviñón, Faride Raful, Alexis Victoria Yeb, Ramón Rogelio Genao, Félix Bautista, Milcíades Franjul and Melvin Valdez.

The second, which is for the Ombudsman, is formed by Ricardo de los Santos, who will chair it; Dionis Sanchez, Valentin Medrano, Lya Diaz, Virgilio Cedano, Franklin Romero, Cristobal Antonio Castillo, Valentín Medrano, Antonio Marte and Martin Eriberto Nolasco.

Estrella gave the committees two weeks to make their recommendations on the choices for the positions received from the Chamber of Deputies.

Article 83 of the Constitution, establishes that the Senate elects the plenary of the Chamber of Accounts as well as the Ombudsman, his deputies and deputies, with the vote of two thirds of the legislators present.

Estrella said that the legislature has 30 days to decide on new members of the Chamber of Accounts and the Ombudsman.
