71-year old former Vice President Jaime David Fernández was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Centro Médico Moderno in Santo Domingo. He complained of intense chest pain. He had been recovering from a catheterization. Just recently, he had mourned the loss of his brother, Jaime Enrique, who died of lung conditions.
The politician who also served as sports minister is under the care of cardiologist Pedro Ureña.
