Weatherman Jean Suriel says the Dominican Republic doesn’t have to worry about being impacted by volcano ash sediments in the air from the La Soufriere volcano that is erupting in St. Vincent, in the southern Caribbean. Reports are that most of the ash has been flown south towards Barbados, to its East. St. Vincent is more than 1,100 km from the Dominican Republic.
The Ministry of Environment issued a press note explaining that the level of sulfur dioxide in the air is not toxic for the Dominican Republic.
Moreover, weatherman Suriel says that while the DR is spared the ash of La Soufriere, Sahara dust from North Africa is on its way here.
