
President Luis Abinader was present in Santiago for the formal start of his administration’s first public housing project. The plan is to build 10,000 housing units for low income employees. The housing will be built in Los Alcarrizos, Azua, East Santo Domingo, Higuey, La Romana and Santiago. A website was created where people can see more details and apply for the benefits of the government housing plan. The government is facilitating low cost financing for those who qualify.
President Abinader broke ground on the Ciudad del Yaque in Santiago de los Caballeros, with a total of 928 apartments. Simultaneously, construction starts were held for Las Praderas del Norte housing development in Los Alcarrizos, with 144 homes; Residencial Don Marcelo in Azua, with 80 units; and Ciudad Altos del Rivera in Santo Domingo Este, with 640 units.
Also, Residencial Tavárez in Higuey, with 96 apartments; Residencial Nuevo Oeste 1 in Hato Nuevo, with 200 units; Residencial Mallorca Village in La Romana with 16 homes; Residencial Valenza at Km. 25 of the Duarte Highway in Pedro Brands, with 480 apartments; and Villa Orilla in San Pedro de Macorís with 464 homes.
