Covid-19 takes the lives of former public health minister and former conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra

Former secretary of Public Health, Dr. Erasmo Vasquez died on Wednesday, 21 April 2021, of lung complications of Covid-19. Born in 1948, he died at the Clínica Union Medica del Norte in Santiago where he was taken after spending 20 days in a medical center in La Vega. He is the father-in-law of the senator for Monseñor Nouel, music orchestra leader and singer Hector Acosta. He is also a past president of the Dominican Medical Association (CMD).

Likewise, it was known that Maestro Julio de Windt died at Cedimat medical center in Santo Domingo on the evening of Wednesday, 21 April. He was 86 years old. He had been hospitalized from a week for Covid-19 complications. A violinist who was part of the National Symphony Orchestra for more than 20 years, he also directed the orchestra. He also served as associate director with Maestros Carlos Piantini and Rafael Villanueva.
