Samaná continues to be a leading film destination in the Caribbean. The next big production to be filmed there is “Lost City of D,” a romantic comedy starring Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum. The production has a budget of US$74 million for the filming in Samaná, as reported in El Caribe.
Overall, N Digital reports that 14 film productions are underway with a budget of RD$4.72 billion. Dominican Film Agency (DGCine) records show that eight local movies are in production, including three in the pre-production phase and another five in production, with a budget of RD$416.6 million. Another four are international films, of which one is in the pre-production phase and three are being filmed with a budget of RD$4.3 billion. N Digital reports two more films are being filmed that did not apply for the incentives of the local film law and have a budget of RD$6.4 million.
