
Persons 60+ are are now being vaccinated. Vaccination centers are again open at malls, universities, sports venues and supermarkets nationwide. The Ministry announced that the vaccinations are open to those 65+. Yet in social media, a promo circulated mentioning the opening for those 60+ and thousands in that age group were vaccinated on Thursday, 22 April.
Public Health Minister Daniel Rivera had announced the vaccination drive was reopening for those 68+ after the arrival of 500,000 doses of Sinovac/Coronavac vaccines from China on 21 April 2021. Nevertheless, on Thursday, via social media the Ministry of Public Health announced the campaign was open to all 60+.
In Santo Domingo, there were no queues at the vaccination centers at places such as the 5th floor of the Multicentro La Sirena, or La Bodega, in front of the Supermercado Nacional on 27 de Febrero avenue. Hundreds of persons 60+ were vaccinated.
The Sinovac vaccines require a booster at four weeks. That is, if you got your shot on 22 April, you are due again for 20 May 2021. People are being asked to verify that they get the same vaccine when they return for the second shot.
